EA

The newly opened EXPRESS AVENUE mall has helped me immensely. I can now go to citi center and be done with the needed shopping quickly.

I am eagerly waiting for someone to open a bigger, better mall than EA so then I can then go to EA and be done with my shopping quickly.

My feedback on EA:
Full marks for parking facilities in terms of space.
Walking through the mall is comparable with the Valley Fair mall in the bay area. The ambience and the scale is world class.

Bad points:
No marks for the way the ‘podhu janam’ approach the parking. Overtaking, coming on the wrong side seems common there as well. I sincerely request folks to follow ‘tamil tradition’ by switching on their headlights while approaching in the wrong side in future.

Crowd. I was stunned by the crowd. So much so I was out of it in about 35 mins which includes 20 minutes for getting in, out and searching for my motorbike. Many people attain nirvana in crowded malls. They ‘hang out’, ‘chill out’, ‘make out’, ‘eat out’ etc. I will never hang out in such a place even if some one gives me a cup of free pulioyadharai, ven pongal with lot of ghee. I sincerely request the management to open a Pothys, Chennai silks, RMKV etc, there so that i will never come to the mall again.

My wife had a lot to complain about the restroom. The possibility of a world class mall with the best branded retail outlets in the world, and the people who look like super models walk past you co-existing with a ‘galeej’ restroom is possible only in India. No other country can give you that experience.

A cynical one: Somehow after being to so many desi functions here in the US and organizing stuff out here - where u can find mostly educated indian people - Indians lack basic hygiene. The ladies crave to dress up, have straight hair and put lip stick but do not check if they have flushed. They love food, desi movies and bollywood songs - thats all it makes me think. The desi kids leave squares and long pieces of toilet paper everywhere and some desi people dispose off diapers where they are not supposed to. They pour water all over the place..just so their hands are clean..who cares if the restroom washbasin gets dirty..This is desi attitude. Wherever desi Indian kids go to college you must go and check for bug infestations. In NJ area near gujju stores there are roaches and rats.

You cant do anything about the crowd- come on - there is no place else to go and if they are at home - some how no one switches off the TV and thats all people can do at home.

    Priyums,

Went to escape cinemas, aunit of sathyam cinemas in express avenue yesterday evening. Escape occupies about half the space in the top floor in EA. They run like.. I don’t know, 4-5 movie halls there…sathyam is regarded as the best in chennai for movie experience…here was my experience…

-theatre, movie experience ell am pakka… They serve popcorn, coke, French fries for a hefty fee within the movie hall.

    - interval la restroom ketta, they conveniently pointed an area outside their ‘escape cinemas’, near KFC…
Ulle pona, the lavatory was exactly how thangamani described - the floor was as wet as a corporation toilet in bus stands, water from the next lavatory was seeping in as there is no wall separator between 2 lavatories, no hand shower, no tissue….the urinals were better…

It’s obvious they did not have enough time to work on this, adhukulle they wanted to make money in a hurry.
    - is not a movie theater which charges 120 rs.per ticket supposed to have an exclusive restroom, even within a mall? Why should they appoint someone whose duty is to stand and point out to the mall restroom during interval…
