Quitters and Winners

Sayings stay on because there is always an element of truth in it.
But just like books, it always acts as a pointer to the truth. It does not have the absolute truth that we are looking for. Absolute truth has everything to do with perception.

“Winners never quit and quitters never win” goes a saying.

And the oft quoted example is how Thomas Alva Edison failed before he made the electric bulb.
Edison tested over 3000 filaments before he came up with his particular version of a practical light bulb.

It is quoted to imply that he did not quit. True. But lets look at it in another way.

So Edison tried his first combination. It doesn’t work. He realises that. What does he do? He start s afresh and comes up with another one. Well is that not quitting?
Is he not supposed to repeat the same exercise till the first combination worked?

In that case is it fair to say winners always quit?

So what exactly is the difference between stop repeating the same mistake and quitting. Process wise, there are no differences. The difference lies in the perception.

Actually the truth is,

Winners never quit believing in themselves, and
Winners always quit and start fresh when they realise they have made a mistake.

Hey thanks for droppin by the other blog:) saw the comment today.
As for the truth about winners and losers…the truth which we probably never see is we all win some and lose some! And as far as quitting is concerned. What might be your posion might be someone else’s nectar.

The difference in randomness (read luck).
I’m not taking credit away from the winners (edison here) for reaching where they are. but that single stroke of luck differentiates the winners from the others.
